Encouraging wild flowers

We have chosen a patch of wood below the orchard to weed out invasive plants and encourage the little celandines, violets and lilies growing there, in the hope they will do better.

The patch is marked out with posts and we will remove the very invasive Himalayan balsam, the overcrowded sycamore and ash seedlings (see below), and cut back the brambles. In a year or two we will see if our efforts have helped!
